Nose

How to prepare yourself. ?
- You should inform the doctor if you've had any previous nose surgery or an
injury to your nose, also any allergies or breathing difficulties. Stop
smoking, drinking alcohol, taking vitamin ?E and any medication containing
aspirin or ibuprofen (2 weeks before and after surgery is recommended.)
Checking with the doctor about any other medications you've currently
taking.
The Surgery.
- Rhinoplasty can be performed under local anesthesia with intravenous
sedation. It takes 1 - 2 hours. All incisions are made inside the nostrils,
the skin of the nose is separated form its supporting framework of bone and
cartilage, then the carved nasal implant will be position inside. Then, the
skin is red raped over the new framework.
Post Operation.
- Your face will feel puffy during the first 24 hours, your nose may ache,
and you may have a dull headache. For the first day, should stay in bed and
keep your head elevated.
- To reduce the swelling and bruising, should apply the cold compress for
twenty minutes every hour for a minimum of forty-eight hours. It will be
disappear within two weeks or so.
- If packing is used, it will be removed after 2-3 days and all dressings,
splints and stitches will be removed in two weeks.
